Ally Acker
Poet, filmmaker and author, Ally Acker has published three collections of poems, Surviving Desire, Waiting for the Beloved and Some Help From the Dead. (See BOOKS)
Equally prolific as a filmmaker, Acker has directed ten documentaries, Filmmakers on Film, based on her
two volume, ground-breaking books, Reel Women:Pioneers of the Cinema, The First Hundred Years. Reel Women has also been made into an interactive CD-ROM.
Ally Acker is the director/writer/producer of The Flowering of the Crone: Leonora Carrington, Another Reality. The film is the only feature length documentary to be produced about this renowned Surrealist's life and work in the United States.
Her newest project, Reel Herstory: The REAL Story of Reel Women with Jodie Foster is a 2 and 1/2 hour epic journey through the untold herstory of female filmmakers from 1896 into the 21st century.
